What to Expect in a SECC Class

  • A calm, focused, yet equally joyful & playful environment to allow for learning.
  • A thoughtful, weekly musical curriculum focused on repetition, and review
    • Our brains are designed to work through repetition!
  • Our musical curriculum alternates over two weeks and covers fundamental musicianship principles;
    • Pitch awareness (scales; high & low sounds)
    • Singing at pitch
    • Keeping a steady beat, musical timing
    • Dynamic (loud / soft) awareness
    • Listening skills, awareness of beautiful tone & physical relaxedness
  • Young children take absolute delight in revisiting familiar activities and gain confidence in their ability as they master these activities.
  • Dual team teachers will help keep the activities of class flowing smoothly, ensuring the transitions between activities remain calm.
  • Our goals of character development are accomplished through:
    • Meeting and greeting your teacher without shyness
    • Developing the ability to wait his or her turn, because they know a turn is coming their way
    • Sensitivity and gentleness toward other children
    • Respect of others and instruments
    • Development of inner calm
  • Parent Education in class will help you to learn
    • how to observe your child
    • learning to notice small, incremental steps in progress, and how to celebrate these moments
    • the core concepts of the Suzuki Philosophy
  • Vocabulary, Language, and Pre-Reading Skills

Attendance

Suzuki Early Childhood Education was developed with parental involvement as its key.

Please plan to stay the whole time with your child and to be fully engaged in our activities. You will love observing how your child learns, and learn to acknowledge each small step of progress. Parents journal at the end of every class.

Each child you bring should have a parent to help support their participation in class.
